Do I qualify for ClearPath On-Bill?

ClearPath looks at your Xcel account, the deed and how you've paid your bill. Here is each requirement and what to check first.

CCEF describes ClearPath as having no traditional credit check. Approval is based on the home, the names on the deed and the Xcel account, and how the bill has been paid.

The home and the account

  • You have Xcel electric service at the home, in Colorado.
  • You own the home and live in it.
  • Your name is on both the deed and the Xcel account.

If the deed and the bill are in different names, for example one spouse on each, sort that out before you apply. The applicant has to be on both.

The bill history

  • The account has at least 6 months of bills.
  • No shutoff notices in the last 12 months.
  • No late fees in the last 6 months.

The quickest way to check is your Xcel account online, where past bills show any late fee. If you moved in recently, wait until the account has six months behind it.

The project

The money goes to qualifying work: cold-climate heat pumps, a heat pump with a new gas furnace, heat pump water heaters, insulation, windows, smart thermostats, and panel upgrades that go with the project. After rebates, the amount has to land between $1,500 and $50,000 per meter before the 2% fee.

When the application starts

Sending photos doesn't start an application. It goes in this order:

  1. You send photos of your equipment.
  2. We send back the price after rebates and the ClearPath monthly payment for each term, if approved.
  3. We confirm the equipment in person.
  4. When you approve the estimate with ClearPath, CCEF's application starts.

Common questions

Does ClearPath check my credit?

CCEF describes ClearPath as having no traditional credit check. Approval is based on the home, the names on the deed and the Xcel account, and how the bill has been paid.

My gas is from Xcel but my electricity isn't. Can I use it?

No. The payment goes on the Xcel electric bill, so you need Xcel electric service at the home.

Can a landlord or a renter use it?

Not under these terms. The home has to be owner-occupied, and the applicant has to be on both the deed and the Xcel account.
